RELIGIOUS LEADERS INTO POLITICS IN NIGERIA
![]() |
| Pastor Chris Okotie of the Household of God |
The pacesetter was pastor Chris okotie of the household of God church who founded a political party known as "FRESH". He contested for the presidential elections in Nigeria under this platform while, some of coleagues in the faith condemned him and others see nothing wrong but an opportunity for the rightous to take over power. All though he lost, but this mark the begining of a new era in Nigeria where religious leaders too can participate rather than blame.Next was pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latte rain assembly.
Though he wasn't a presidential candidate and didn't found any political party contested alongside with General Muhadmodu Buhari under the platform of Cpc. Though they lost but not woefully because they came second in the election. This was another clergy-man that came out to change the political situations of Nigeria, not blaming.2015, will experience another clergy-man in person prof. Yemi Osibanjo a pastor under the redeemed christian church of God.
These religious leaders, has shown that is never a sin to participate in politics as in the past assumed but to actively be involved in the affairs of the country and the Holy bible said that "God himself rule let in the Kingdom of men". like the Holy Bible also said that "when the righteous are in power, the people rejoice"
